Director's Special
Michael has been working to recreate a director's special on the CB&Q in 1965 that included the Presidents and assistants of the GN, NP and CB&Q. As Seen in the photo below.
The Burlington Bulletin noted that this special train had two pristine E9’s followed by the Pullman green office car Blackhawk the shadow lined #100, the fluted sides The Roundup, a 6/5 sleeper, Great Northern full dome borrowed from the Empire Builder; another 6/5 sleeper, Northern Pacific Yellowstone River, Great Northern A-28 and bringing up the markers the host RR President’s car Burlington.
Four CB&Q Office cars, NP Yellowstone River, GN A-28 and 6/5 sleepers, provided by Michael’s friend Russ Jandes.
For the model to pull this train up the grades on the layout Michael added an extra E unit.
